A gay life 'style' some paint for me is a myth, fodder for the heresy called the "Culture Wars." The use of the term makes a distinction between you and me in how we live our day-to-day lives, a distinction that does not exist. With that one word, you make me an “other than us.” No matter how many times I try to explain this to heterosexual Christians, they HAVE to see me as living some kind of life that is so foreign, so alien, and so Godless from theirs. They think this not because they KNOW how a homosexual lives, but because they were TOLD how a homosexual lives by those in the Church.
What fascinates me is what kind of life they think I live (mimosas served poolside by rough trade at endless White parties?). The imagination is as far as the eye can see is the rule for these people who are more fixated on the type of life they think I lead than the one I actually exist in. It would be a funny joke if it wasn't a dangerous one.
There was a Nazi propaganda film from 1940 called, "Der Ewige Jude (The Eternal Jew)." What it said stoked fear of Jews with what was also called a "Culture War" that eerily parallels what is being said about homosexuals this present day (They're diseased, they're richer, more educated, they have great power for such a small number, they're a threat to youth, to Christianity, etc). Claims once made against Jews are now being raised from the pit to find a new target, and no one seems to see the similarities.
In 1989 authors Marshall Kirk and Hunter Madsen wrote a book called "After the Ball: How America Will Conquer Its Fear and Hatred of Gays in the 90s." Supposedly it came from a diabolical 1988 summit of gay elites in Warrenton, Virginia who came together to agree on some kind of evil 6-point gay plan using sophisticated psychological persuasion and propaganda mass media techniques to brainwash America into accepting homosexuality. Christian groups to this day see the book as some kind of manifesto all gays are secretly following. "After the Ball" became to gays what the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion" became to Jews.
My "Lifestyle" has now officially become a conspiracy.
“We can easily reduce our detractors to absurdity and show them their hostility is groundless. But what does this prove? That their hatred is real. When every slander has been rebutted, every misconception cleared up, every false opinion about us overcome, intolerance itself will remain finally irrefutable.”
